Introducing Our Blog

Since it seems everyone has a blog these days, we decided we might as well give it a try. And since I have a lot of free time from 4 am to 6 am every morning, as Joseph constantly wakes up and has to be put back to sleep in the early morning hours, I figured there would be some spare time to keep up with the thing. We were going to name our blog "The Hills" but I was concerned someone might mistake it for a blog devoted to that horrible MTV reality show of the same name. So we went with "Then there were three..." Which after 5 years of marriage and alot of trying to start a family, seems appropriate.

I'd like to think that this blog is going to be about our family, as in all three of us - Rich and I included, but lets face it, Rich and I aren't doing anything interesting and the only thing our readers are interested in is Joseph. So while there may be an occasional update on something exciting Rich or I are doing, this is going to center around the activities of an infant (which mostly include eating and sleeping at the current time). We know a lot of you enjoy our online picture gallery (link below for those who have lost it) but thought we could supplement the pictures with details about Joseph's daily accomplishments.

Joseph's Photo Gallery

Since we are starting this two months into his life, we thought we would give a quick overview of his current status

Joseph likes:

  • To eat - a lot. He is fat. He has almost doubled his birth weight by 2 months and weighs in at a hefty 12 pounds 7 ounces at 2 months. He is 23 inches long.
  • To suck on his hand. This is a recent discovery which was resulted in a few hours of entertainment for himself.
  • To be held - ALL THE TIME. He is a cuddler, which is wonderful until you need to use the bathroom or want to eat.
Joseph Dislikes:

  • To sleep. Joseph feels sleep is optional most nights. He especially believes this to be the case from 3 am to 7 am (which luckily for Mommy is the night shift she is assigned to).
  • Shots. He just had his 2 month old shots. It did not go well. He screamed hysterically and Mommy sobbed while Daddy tried to figure out who needed comforting more.
Milestones already met:

  • Smiling - this started at about 4 weeks but in the last 2 he has really started responding to Rich and I's voices and facial expressions.

  • Holding his head up - He has quite good head control and can lift his head and chest quite high off the floor.

That is a quick summary of Joseph's current status. We look forward to updating you on his latest and greatest activities every few days.

yay for the blog!!!

his sleep schedule seems similar to my joseph's, except that it was the midnight-to-three time period he seemed to enjoy most.
